Taking a Day Off: Passive Income Proof

Last Sunday, I enjoyed the whole day with my family, never even turning on the computer. We made breakfast together in the morning, hung out with friends after church, and went hiking in the evening. We brought a picnic dinner and watched the sun set over the valley. It was a beautiful day, with unseasonably warm weather for February.
The next morning I logged in to my accounts, sipping tea as the children slept. My eyes widened as I saw that while I was at church and enjoying my family time the previous day, I’d sold seven eHow ebooks, netting $112.50 after my affiliates’ share, earned about $50 from my eHow articles and sold six books on Amazon for $8.63 in commission. Not counting my Adsense pennies, a tidy $171 and change for a day when I didn’t even turn on my computer. That’s true passive income.
It occurred to me, as I saw the spike in ebook sales, that it used to be I’d work 15 hours a week, at something I didn’t particularly enjoy, to make about the same amount, and that was all I would earn for the whole week. But on this Sunday, I didn’t work at all, made $171, and would continue to earn money from my various sources the whole week, whether I worked or not.
I am a stay-at-home, work-at-home mom with three kids who aren’t yet of school age. I spend most of my day cleaning kids and surfaces, doing laundry and dishes, making food, taking the kids outside. If I can build up a sizable secondary income to rival average American salaries, just in my spare time, I bet you can, too.
Envision what passive income could do for your family, for your life, and begin to work for that now.
Resources abound online, with free tips, advice and pointers from those who have found success through trial and error. Find someone who knows more than you do and read their blog, book or website to glean what you can. And then make it your own — find a niche, find something you love and get to work.

I enjoy Bukisa — my strategy was to build up my network form the getgo and while I don’t have a ton of content online there yet, I am adding more and my network is 90+ strong so earnings are very nice.
I will go into more detail about Bukisa in a post in the near future.
